A museum is a window that opens to the world,
an invitation to enter, without obstacles.
Here every mind is welcomed, every step has its space.
Welcome where barriers give way to encounter.

In the heart of Irpinia lies Torella dei Lombardi, a small town with an ancient charm and an innovative soul. Here, among medieval alleys and hilly landscapes, stories are kept that speak of a rich past and a present in continuous evolution. Dominating the town, the Ruspoli Castle of Candriano is a symbol of Torella. This ancient manor, which has hosted noble families such as the Saraceno, the Caracciolo over the centuries, is today the heart of a project that combines history and inclusiveness: the ‘Parva Turris’ Museum.

The ‘Parva Turris’ Museum, set up inside the castle, is a journey into the material history of Torella and its people. The heart of the exhibition is represented by a collection of ceramics, which tell the traditions and lifestyle of the Torella community from the 13th to the 19th century, a series of coins and other everyday objects in glass and iron, as well as epigraphs and coats of arms that recall the cultural stratification of the manor. But what makes the ‘Parva Turris’ Museum unique is its openness to everyone, without barriers. The museum was designed to be a true ‘Museum of Inclusivity’, with accessible routes for all, allowing anyone to live a complete and engaging experience.

The ‘Parva Turris’ Museum is not just a place of memory, but a living project, dedicated to the community. It represents a link between past and present, where history intertwines with innovation to promote a culture without barriers. Visit Torella dei Lombardi, discover the Ruspoli Castle of Candriano and live the unique experience of the ‘Parva Turris’ Museum. An inclusive journey through time, an opportunity for everyone to immerse themselves in the history and beauty of our land.

In the heart of the Ruspoli Candriano castle, the Parva Turris Museum opens like a window to the past. Referring to a metaphor of the Hirpus - the wolf that guided the ancient Irpini towards new lands - the museum welcomes every visitor on a journey without barriers between memory, identity and culture. Here, every object tells a story. Every step finds space. Every mind, a source of inspiration.

Accessibility

Accessibility

The visit to the museum is enriched with multimedia and accessible content.

A mobile app “Parva Turris” designed for different categories of users guides users with texts, audio, videos in LIS.

The exhibition of the collection is accompanied by a tactile path: 17 works have been reproduced in 1:1 scale in 3D printing. There are captions in Braille that explain to the visitor the morphology of the work, historical context and functionality.

The architectural barriers present in a period castle have been removed, in addition to a stair lift, by the installation of a lifting platform, by a tactile track that marks the entire tour route and by educational panels in Braille. The tour route to the museum is intertwined with a visit to the castle's dungeons, where, thanks to video installations, the atmosphere of the ancient prisons present in the castle in the past has been recreated.
